Worksite Wellness
Many people spend a large part of their day in the workplace. As such, there is a great need to consider our health at work.
Worksite wellness programs can lead to positive change for employees and organizations. They have the potential to impact a person's health-related behaviors and decrease the risk of disease. They can decrease healthcare costs and absenteeism and improve productivity, retention, and staff morale.
Examples of worksite wellness strategies include the following.
- Company policies that promote healthy behaviors (ex. tobacco free campus),
- Employee health insurance coverage for preventive screenings, and
- Making healthy foods available and accessible through vending machines or cafeterias.
