Heat Risk Education Curriculum

The Heat Risk Education Curriculum is a set of PowerPoints and facilitator guides meant to train community leaders and residents about global warming and heat risk to support behavior change, and covers topics such as global warming, heat illnesses, at-risk groups, prevention, and taking action at home and in the community.

The curriculum was collaboratively developed by academic institutions, county organizations, and community-based organizations under the support of the NOAA Collaborative Science, Technology, and Applied Research (CSTAR) Program (NA22NWS4680005).

Anyone can teach the curriculum, including those with little or no background in climate change, heat risk, or public health.

The curriculum contains five teaching modules and one background module for facilitators. Each module contains a set of learning objectives, conversation starters, and in some cases, activities.
